Project Overview
Here is a quick overview of the projects in this chapter. Go to thoughtfullearning.com/h508 for additional help with your audio-visual projects.
A Podcast
A podcast is an audio or audio-video feature made available on the Internet. Podcasts can cover any topic and most commonly share an interview, present information, or provide entertainment. (See pages 510–511.)
B Slide Show
A slide show uses words and images to communicate information. Some slide shows accompany a speech or an oral presentation, while others include a sound track and can stand alone. (See pages 512–513.)
C Pecha Kucha Presentation
A Pecha Kucha is a special type of oral presentation and slide show. It lasts for 6 minutes and 40 seconds and includes 20 different slides, each of which is shown for exactly 20 seconds. (See pages 514–517.)
D Documentary
A documentary film focuses on an important nonfiction slice of reality. It educates and informs viewers on a relevant and interesting topic and often combines raw footage with interviews. (See pages 518–519.)
E Public Service Announcement
A public service announcement (PSA) encourages or persuades people to do something that will help them or their community. Although it is presented like a commercial, a PSA’s purpose is to help others rather than to sell something. (See pages 520–521.)
F How-To Video
A how-to video demonstrates how to do or make something. As with the other video projects in this chapter, creating a how-to video is a process that involves scriptwriting, directing, storyboarding, acting, filming, and editing. (See pages 522–526.)
