Writing to Learn
At one time, students were primarily consumers of information. They absorbed whatever their teachers and textbooks provided. Today, however, students are often expected to produce information, cultivating and growing new thoughts and ideas.
One powerful way to produce information is to write. Writing compels you to connect with the information you are learning. As you write, you think; and thinking deepens your understanding of the topics you study. This chapter focuses on strategies that you can use to improve your writing and learning in any subject.
