Chapter 25

Creating

Creating is all about producing something of your own, taking an idea and making it a reality. The first Harley-Davidson motorcycle didn’t appear until William Harley and Arthur Davidson took their idea to a machine shop and created an engine for a regular pedal bicycle. Sadly, they had to trash their first attempt because the motorbike couldn’t even make it up a small hill. But they learned a lot, kept asking questions, and kept working until they succeeded.

Creating is very seldom a straight-line activity. This chapter will help you handle the curves and turn your ideas into something tangible—perhaps a convincing speech, a breathtaking movie, or a well-executed experiment.
